Family Court Support Worker Program
When leaving an abusive relationship a woman can be faced with the challenge of navigating the legal system; Birchway Family Court Support Workers can help.
Our Family Court Support Workers provide information and support on leaving your abusive partner and provide safety planning with women.
Our Family Court Support Workers assist in:
- Providing basic legal information and referrals, including referrals to lawyers
- Assistance in applying for custody, access and child support
- Accompaniment to court and other legal appointments such as legal aid and lawyers meetings
- Support in reviewing legal documents and financial statements
Family Court Support Workers also assist when dealing with police, lawyers and the criminal justice system; and inform you about the issues relating to violence against women and the law.
